Implied Meaning
(I) When somebody attacks you, you should defend yourself immediately, for if you wait too long to respond your assailant might easily overpower you. (II) When you have finished preparing for a specific action, you must proceed without further delay
Origin
When the marines of the Buganda Kingdom invaded the Buvuma Islands, their Commander, Pince Kayemba,ordered them to stand on one leg upon landing ashore. This made the Bavuma Relax. They decided to wait until the Baganda has accumulated in number before mounting a counteroffensive, and presumed that defeating the invaders would be easy.
Upon discovering that not one Muganda was lame, the Bavuma panicked and were heavily defeated. The Baganda Subsequently conquered the Bavuma Islands. This Occured in the reign of Kabaka Jjuko (circa 1670 - 1682), and it is also known to have coincided with the moon's total eclipse of the sun
